Outdoor Play

The outside area plays a very important role within the nursery routine. All the children have access to the play areas in both the morning and afternoon with small groups going out at a time.

This area provides experiences and opportunities that no other area within the nursery can. As well as the more obvious physical activities, this is a chance for the children to explore their natural world and all the sensual opportunities it has to offer. Planting and digging areas are provided so that the children can be involved directly with this environment.

Tiggers and Piglets are taken on local walks when the weather is fine.

Piglets venture a little further and have picnics in the park too.

Winnies and Eeyores go even further with trips to the local library, the fountains in the Peace Gardens and the theatre.

Staff  Training

Each member of staff has an individual training programme to develop their role as an Early Years practitioner. This allows us to continually review and upgrade the service we provide to the children and their families.

Sheffield Quality Kitemark

The staff at Scallywags are working towards the completion of this quality assurance scheme. Again this allows the staff to continually assess the quality of service we are providing.
